What is AVID? Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) is a selective, nationally-acclaimed program that seeks to both challenge and support students on their path to attending a four-year college or university. AVID employs research-backed curriculum and strategies to ensure that students succeed in their current classes and in their future academic opportunities. AVID places its students in advanced classes and provides them with trained AVID teachers in their content courses and access to free tutoring. AVID works closely with families to foster a strong learning community and encourages students to be active and participate in extracurricular activities. At graduation, it is the goal of the Jordan High School AVID Program that students will be ready to attend a four-year university on scholarship.
Rising 10th Graders are encouraged to apply for AVID; a parent/family AVID information will be held on Tuesday, May 21, at 6:30 p.m. in Room 112.
