Learning about African American History should extend beyond the 28 days in February that have been nationally designated as Black History Month. Providing culturally diverse perspectives is our commitment to historically inclusive education for our students and community year long.

As part of our #DPSCelebrates / #DPSBeyond28 events, students in grades 6-12 have an opportunity to view a digital viewing of the feature film, The Best of Enemies starring Taraji P. Henson and Sam Rockwell that focuses on the rivalry between a local civil rights activist and KKK leader to co-chair a committee on the desegregation of Durham Schools. - MARCH 3, 2021 | 1 PM

DPS’ own Jermaine Porter, the Boys of Color Program Coordinator is sponsoring a DPS district initiative called We Are Kings. Dr. Grady is a STEM Ambassador who is the first woman Computer Science Ph.D. graduate from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Information Science/Systems at North Carolina Central University.
