National Junior Honor Society

Membership in NJHS is a prestigious achievement. The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding middle school level students. More than just an honor roll based on excellent grades, NJHS serves to honor those students who demonstrate excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship, and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1929.

High expectations are set for NJHS members. To fulfill your requirements as a member of the Rogers-Herr Middle School NJHS, you must maintain a cumulative 90 average in core classes each semester. Your role as a student leader requires that your behavior be that of a positive peer role model and should be above reproach.

Last year we participated in several service projects. In September, we participated in Mental Health Awareness Week where our members educated others on different mental health issues that affect those around us. In October during Anti-bullying Month, we participated in the Words Hurt Campaign, showing the power of the words we speak to ourselves and others. We also took part in World Kindness Day by placing kind words on every single locker in the building.

This year, although unique, we would like to continue the service we do for RHMS and our community. Current 7th and 8th grade students may apply for NJHS in February 2021. We will provide a packet of information in February to those students.

Our induction ceremony for both 2020 and 2021 inductees will take place in March 2021.
