Important Dates:

• Memorial Day - May 27 (No school for students)
• State Mandated EOG Testing - May 24 - May 31
• Spring Dance - Friday, May 31 (6:00 - 8:00)

EOG Testing (Reminder):

The following is the schedule for EOG testing: any students taking their EOG on a date different from their grade level will receive a letter with their testing dates from our Testing Coordinator, Mrs. Wayson.  Please note, students will not be called out of classrooms for any reason during the time students are engaged in testing.  Disruption to the testing environment will result in a testing irregularity.  

Friday, May 24:

• 8th grade Science
• Some 6th and 7th grade separate setting Math
• 7th grade scholars enrolled in Math I will take the 7th grade Math EOG

Tuesday, May 28:

• Some 6th, 7th, and 8th grade small group reading

Wednesday, May 29: 

• 7th and 8th grade Math
• Some 6th grade small group math
• Math I EOC

Thursday, May 30: 

• 8th grade Reading
• 6th grade Math

Friday, May 31:

• 6th and 7th grade Reading

Monday, June 3 - Friday, June 7:

• EOG make up testing

Monday, June 10 - Thursday, June 13

• Take Two (EOG retakes)

Returning Student Registration:

Durham Public Schools is excited to welcome its returning students back for the 2024-25 school year. Families are reminded to update their student’s emergency contact information and register for bus transportation by accessing the secure PowerSchool Parent Portal.  This is a requirement of all DPS families.  Parents and guardians can log on to the Portal and click on Back-to-School Update. If you don’t have access to the Parent Portal, please call the data manager for assistance. 

The deadline to request bus transportation, for those who need it, is:

• Year-Round Schools - May 24
• Specialty Schools - June 17
• Traditional Schools - June 17

The Parent Portal Resources tab includes print and video resources for those who need assistance.  Please note, if you do not indicate whether or not you need bus transportation, it is not guaranteed at the beginning of the 24-25 school year.
