Principal Selection Stakeholder Survey:

Dr. Rogers will hold a parent meeting on Monday, May 20, at 6:30pm, in the school’s media center to share the principal search timeline and next steps.  Additionally, members of our school community may share input about Githens and qualities you want to see in the next Principal of Githens via a feedback survey.  The feedback survey is posted on the homepage of our school’s website through Monday, May 20.  Below is the survey link for the Githens Principal Selection Stakeholder Survey.  The survey will close on May 20, 2024, 11:59 p.m.

Accelerated Early Diploma (Reminder):

DPS is offering an Accelerated Early Diploma Pathway of 3 years and 22 credits. This pathway will allow students to receive a future ready diploma. The Future Ready Diploma differs from a traditional high school diploma because students will only need 22 credits to receive a 3-year diploma instead of the recommended 26 credits needed for graduation.  Githens will also offer an additional information session tonight at 6:00pm.  The Zoom link is below.

Early Release Day (Reminder):

Tomorrow is an early release day.  School ends at 1:20.  All car riders MUST be picked up on time.

Chromebook Collection (Reminder):

Starting May 10, students will be returning their DPS computers and DPS chargers in their homeroom classrooms.  If a student does not return a DPS charger with the DPS device, the student will not receive a charger in Fall 2024.  These are IT policies, NOT school policies, and these are REAL countywide IT consequences as a result of student behavior and personal responsibility.  Parents can pay for a charger replacement at any time with the directions under parent links on the GMS webpage and the replacement  charger will be delivered to Githens. Example: Fred does not turn in a charger with his computer to Mrs. Smith’s homeroom class in May. When Fred returns to Githens in Fall 2024, Fred receives ONLY a computer because the charger was lost.  If Fred goes to Jordan High School he still ONLY receives a computer because the charger from Githens was lost.
