Principal Update 10/16

Good evening Githens Raiders! This is Dr. Lanier with a brief message for the week! Please listen carefully to all details!

Monday, October 24, is an early release day. Scholars will be dismissed from school at 1:20. Please communicate your afternoon transportation plan with your scholar. Monday, October 31, is a teacher workday. There is no school for scholars.

Picture day for all scholars will be held on Wednesday, November 2. The make up date for any scholars who are absent on the 2nd is Thursday, January 19. Please note, for every package sold, Strawbridge Studios will donate $5.00 to Githens. We will send out information on how to purchase pictures as the date approaches.

The Encore! afterschool program still has space to serve students. The program operates Monday through Thursday from 3:30-5:30 pm at Githens. The program is open to all scholars for a small fee or you may choose to take advantage of a “free” scholarship. This semester, scholars can get assistance with their homework from teachers, have access to robotics & STEM programming in addition to participating in fun, recreational activities. The program provides a daily snack and bus transportation is available if you live in the school’s transportation zone. Tuesday, October 18 – Volleyball, Boys Soccer, & Cross Country versus Rogers-Herr at Rogers-Herr

Wednesday, October 19 – Football and Cheerleading versus Shepard at Githens

Thursday, October 20 - Boys Soccer and Volleyball versus Lowe’s Grove at Lowe’s Grove

Game time is 4:45.

All sports ticket sales will be virtual this year through “ticket spicket” and are required for entry. Please use the link provided in the email that accompanies this phone message to follow the steps necessary to purchase tickets. We also encourage all who can to join the Githens Athletics Booster by using the link provided in the email that accompanies this phone message. For further information regarding athletics or specific teams, please email either Ms. Stackhouse, Athletic Director, or the coaches.

PowerSchool Parent Portal is the official source of student grade information and a convenient way for you to update your most current contact information. DPS has created step by step instructions, as well as video instructions, on how to access the PowerSchool Parent Portal.
