Two new directors and an interim principal named

The Durham Public Schools Board of Education accepted Superintendent Pascal Mubenga’s recommendations for two district directors and an interim school leader at its Thursday, Sept. 22, meeting.

Wilma Jordan has been named director of construction and capital planning, coming to DPS as a longtime project manager with CBRE Heery. While there she was a project manager at sites including North Carolina State University School of Engineering, UNC-Wilmington, Shelby County Schools, and the Durham County Library. She has also worked for North Carolina Central University and Elizabeth City State University.

Dr. Cicily McCrimmon joins DPS as director of teaching and learning. Currently an assistant principal at Pollard Middle School in Chapel Hill, Dr. McCrimmon has also served schools as a principal, assistant principal, and English/language arts teacher for schools in Chapel Hill-Carrboro, Chatham, and Harnett counties. She earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership from Gardner-Webb University.

 

Ms. Jordan and Dr. McCrimmon will join DPS in October.

Gregory Mitchell, who has served as assistant principal of Club Boulevard Elementary School for seven and a half years, has been named interim principal effective September 23. He has also been an assistant principal for high schools in Chapel Hill-Carrboro and Orange County school systems, and began his career as a science teacher. He was named North Carolina Outstanding Assistant Principal of the Year in 2020. He earned his Master of School Administration and Master of Arts in Teaching Science degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
