Skilled Trades Students at Southern School of Energy and Sustainability Celebrate Completion of Pre-Apprenticeship Program

On Wednesday, June 2, nine students in the Skilled Trades Pathway at Southern School of Energy and Sustainability were celebrated for completing all the requirements for the DPS Registered Pre-Apprenticeship. These students have completed OSHA-10 training, OSHA-30 training and became forklift certified during the pre-apprenticeship.

Students' interests: 

  • Jimmy Escobar will be working with Atlantic Welding Company
  • Victor Godinez-Fuentes is working with Atlantic Welding Company
  • Jamil Henderson will be going to Vance Granville Community College for Welding
  • Kishawn Reed will be enrolling in the linesmen program at Durham Technical Community College
  • Kasiem Willis will be going into the Air Force
  • Damien Holloway is interested in landscaping or construction management
  • Ledia Nataren Sosa will be attending the construction program at Durham Tech
  • Alex Silva-Martinez will be working for Bull City Construction Company
  • Jhordan Benthall will be attending the architecture program at Durham Tech

Representatives from business partners who have supported the Skills Trade Pathway and provided various opportunities and resources to the students attended the ceremony. Those in attendance were:

  • Gloria Shealey, The Daniele Company Construction Management
  • Maryah Overman, Durham Technical Community College
  • Jason Robinson, United Rentals
  • Jonathan Best, Samet Corporation
