Today, a few of our #WeAreDPS students participated in a S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) project that literally had them over and under the Moon.
Sixth-graders from The School for Creative Studies assisted fourth-graders from Holt Magnet Elementary School in designing and building lunar landers.
The activity was staged underneath a Museum of the Moon exhibit that features detailed imagery of the surface of the moon. The replica is nearly 23 feet in diameter.
The Moon is currently suspended over CCB Plaza in Downtown Durham and is part of Bull Moon Rising; a free, four-day community event presenting the exhibit, a mesmerizing and world-renowned touring installation by U.K. artist Luke Jerram.
