Durham School of the Arts set to reopen on Monday, April 15
Durham School of the Arts will reopen on Monday, April 15, on a two-hour delay for students, following the accident at 115 N. Duke St. Students may arrive at DSA beginning at 10:30 a.m.; the school day will begin at 11:15 a.m. Counselors will be on hand for students and staff who request support. Families that drop off their students on campus and students who drive to school are asked to allow for additional time to arrive, as some streets will be reduced to one lane. Families and students who usually arrive on Duke St. from Hwy. 147 (the Durham Freeway) will have to detour onto Main Street and circle back via Gregson and Morgan Streets before turning back onto Duke St. to arrive on campus.
The cafeteria will be open for lunch for DSA students. There will be no off-campus lunch for juniors and seniors due to ongoing clean-up and recovery efforts.
DSA teachers and staff will report to school at 9:30 a.m.
Because we expect traffic delays and wish to protect the privacy of DSA students and staff, we ask that media organizations do not approach the campus.
