DPS Teacher Raises $7000 to Feed Students for the Holidays

Glenn Elementary School teacher, and organizer of the 4th Annual Mrs. Parker's Professors Food-raiser Turquoise Parker has one goal: to provide her students and their families with a bag of food to enjoy during the holiday break. Parker started the project 4 years ago while teaching in Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools. During the first event, she raised roughly $500. This year, she raised over $7000 in food donations and cash for purchasing additional food. Parker had more than a few helpers today. Parents, teachers, current students, former students, and community members came out to support the project and to help pack bags for distribution. Parker is already planning for next years event.
