DPS Names New Leader of Information Technology Department

Paul Mijumbi

 

Paul Mijumbi, currently serving as Interim Executive Director for Information Technology, will now serve in a permanent capacity effective immediately. 

Prior to his role as interim, Mijumbi served as DPS’s Director of IT Operations since July 2020 where he managed the IT department’s budget, including E-rate federal funding. He has led several initiatives directed toward successful optimization of technology infrastructures and improved student outcomes. He has worked in DPS since 2013.

Mijumbi has a Bachelor of Computer Science degree from the University of Science and Technology, and a Master of Science in IT, Project Management, from Capella University. He also holds certifications as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), a Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA), and ITIL.

"I am honored to lead as the Executive Director of Information Technology for Durham Public Schools," said Mijumbi. "Our district’s technology plays an important role in supporting student success, empowering educators, and driving operational efficiency. I look forward to building on our progress, to ensure that technology remains a catalyst for equity, excellence, and innovation in Durham Public Schools."
