DPS Appoints New CFO and School Principal

The Durham Public Schools Board of Education appoints new district and school leadership. Jeremy Teetor named Chief Finance Officer and Joshua Brown will lead the Durham Early College of Health Sciences.

Durham Public Schools welcomes Jeremy Teetor, MBA, to the role of Chief Finance Officer, effective November 4. Teetor’s track record is results-oriented, and he has been credited with quickly identifying and resolving complex financial and programmatic challenges. He offers a commitment to quality-focused, people-centric service and collegial collaboration.

Teetor earned his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Business Administration from Elon University. He also holds membership in the NC Association of School Business Officials.

He currently serves as a financial consultant who has directly advised and supported multiple North Carolina public school systems, including the provision of interim finance officer support to  Caswell, Hertford, Northampton, Scotland, and Warren county school districts. He has also trained and mentored finance staff, completed classified salary studies, and provided ERP Conversion Support. He has also served Alamance-Burlington and Caswell counties as Chief Business and Chief Finance Officer, respectively, as well as his alma mater, Elon University, as an Assistant Director of Financial Planning.

Joshua Brown

Durham Early College of Health Sciences

Joshua Brown has been appointed Principal of the Durham Early College of Health Sciences effective January 10, 2025. Durham Early College of Health Sciences welcomes its first cohort of students in August 2025.

Brown comes to DPS from the Alamance-Burlington School System where he serves as principal of Graham High School. He is known as a transformational leader rooted in equity, partnership, and student and family engagement. He also served as an assistant principal in the Alamance-Burlington and Wake County school districts. He began his teaching career in DPS at Neal Middle School.

Brown earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications/Geography from Emory & Henry College and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Gardner-Webb University.

"I am truly honored to be appointed to this leadership role within Durham Public Schools. This district holds a special place in my heart, as it is where I began my teaching career at Neal Middle. I remain deeply committed to supporting our specialty students and celebrating their achievements in the classroom and eventual workforce. I look forward to joining and leading the important work happening within DPS.
