DPS Senior Spotlight | Malik Ramadanovic
Malik Ramadanovic is a graduating senior at Riverside High School and was nominated for Durham Public Schools Senior Spotlight for his involvement in various programs and insightfulness on solutions to equity issues.
“I believe my biggest accomplishment has been receiving the QuestBridge National College Match Full Four-Year Scholarship to cover my attendance to Davidson College,” said Malik. “It was the biggest indicator of the cliche: “Hard work pays off.” Everything I had worked for and learned throughout high school despite being a first-generation student had rewarded me with future ease and fully attainable opportunities.”
Malik has not selected his precise focus for his college career but says he understands his strengths and weaknesses and is going to allow this to guide him towards his future career path.
“I am undecided as of now but know I will be concentrating in Biology, Mathematics, and Music,” said Malik. “One of my overarching goals in life is that whatever I will put my work into, it will be something I am passionate about and that makes me happy.”
Currently, Malik serves as one of Riverside’s representatives on the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council where he has worked with others throughout the district on various projects and provided valuable insight to issues at hand throughout at COVID-19 pandemic.
Additionally, he has served as a teacher’s assistant for the chorus department at his school.
“I love helping other people, especially by sharing knowledge and teaching others skills I have acquired,” said Malik. “That’s why I have been a TA for chorus this past year, where I help teach my peers music theory and other general student skills like organization. Admittedly, I am socially awkward at times but am strangely a people person. I have found that meeting new people and engaging in interesting conversations actually make me feel better and more confident about myself.”
Congratulations Malik on being nominated as a senior to be spotlighted. We all are very proud of your hard work and achievements.
