Student of the Month | December 2024 | Shaimey Castro Romero
Shaimey Castro Romero: Prepared to Thrive
Shaimey (pronounced Shay-me) Castro Romero stays ready. Her teachers and administrators say she thrives because she’s an active participant in student life. Halfway through her junior year, Shaimey demonstrates excellence in attendance, behavior, and academics. She will graduate in 2026. She “truly rises as a Phoenix,” says one of her teachers Aaron Ashe. “Shaimey is an amazing person with a bright outlook on life. We are honored to honor her as our December Student of the Month. She comes to school every day prepared to be engaged in learning throughout each of her class periods.”
Shaimey is not shy about advocating for her needs as a student, and her initiative has yielded results: she has maintained an A in every class. She’s also an eager participant in activities and events outside of the classroom. She was one of only a few students who dressed up during spirit week according to each day's theme.
“She has embraced the culture of PLC/Holton, that this is a place where all students can grow and rise. She supports her classmates with peer tutoring and not because she is asked, but simply because she wants to help. She is the unofficial cheerleader for many of her friends and classmates encouraging them to work hard, attend school, and do their best. Shaimey is an amazing person with a bright outlook on life. We are honored to honor her as our December Student of the Month,” said Ashe.
