Student of the Month | March 2023 | Cameron Bailey
Cameron Bradley has the makings of a leader who’ll use her powers for good wherever she lands. Deemed an “outstanding” student at the J.D. Clement Early College High School, her teachers and administrators call her a demonstrated leader and model citizen. She had only spent seven months on the Early College campus before the pandemic shut-down, but entered collegiate North Carolina Central University while maintaining contact with Early College through her acts of service to others. All the while, she earned and maintained a 4.47 grade point average and more than 60 college credits toward her intended major of Clinical Research Science.
She also served as National Honor Society President and volunteered her time to tutor other Early College students. She advocated with staff to have a college readiness club, and served as the lead for club members. Cameron also volunteered with Durham Parks and Recreation, teaching younger students how to play tennis. Cameron has earned numerous awards such as the 2022 NCCU Honors Award, 2022 Early College Best All Around Student, The 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Love to Serve Tennis Foundation, and is the recent recipient of 2023 Duke Summer Training in Academic Research (STAR) Program.
Her Early College teachers remember Cameron as a Freshman and Sophomore being the kind of student that was always willing to help other classmates, and having great skills in advocating for herself and others when needed.
“We are very proud of Cameron and are excited to hear about her impact on the world when she graduates and on to the next exciting chapter in life,” said Principal Lori Bruce.
