Principal's Update 2/21/22

Good afternoon Cougar Country,

This week is Black History Month Spirit Week!  

Monday:  Cougar Blackout - wear all black in support of Black History Month

Tuesday:  Historical Figure Day - dress like an African American historical figure

Wednesday: African attire/Black History Month shirts

Thursday: Do it it for the Culture Day - wear hip hop gear or dance gear from the 70’s, 80’s. 90’s.

Friday: HBCU Day - Wear your favorite Historically Black College/University (HBCU) shirt/gear.

Please join us Monday, February 21st at 6:00pm for our next PTO Meeting.  All families are welcome to attend.  We will discuss current needs, our upcoming fundraiser and positions for next school year.  This meeting will take place via Zoom.  Join the meeting - https://dpsnc.zoom.us/j/93627869592.

Northern High School will host a virtual information session on Thursday, February 24th, from 6pm-7pm for rising 9th grade students.  Families will learn about Northern’s CTE programs and curriculum.  Visit www.bit.ly/nhsnight or Northern’s website for more information and a link to register for this event.

Riverside High School will host a virtual information night on March 24 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM  for rising 9th grade students.  Please visit Riverside High School’s website for more information.  

This week in sports, Girls soccer, softball and baseball will have practice.  Track and Field will start tryouts. What is needed for tryouts? Track and Field will need good running shoes and a change of clothes according to the weather (compression leggings underneath your shorts, long sleeves shirt, sweatshirt.)  All tryouts and practices will start at 3:00 pm -5:00 pm.
