Principal's Update for the Week of 11/05/23

Greetings, 

This is Carrington with an update for the week of November 5th.

6th grade parents, on Monday November 6th we will continue our “6th Day” celebration with another themed event. We ask that our 6th grade students come to school in the Fall Spirit wearing flannel.
 
Tuesday November 7th is a teacher's workday.  There will be no school for students.

On November 10th, DPS will observe Veteran’s Day Holiday.  There will be no school for students and our offices will be closed. 

In honor of Veteran’s Day, we ask that everyone wear camouflage on November 9th, to honor our brave men and women that served in our US Military. 

The Math Team will meet Wednesday Nov 8th from 3:30 - 4:30pm in Mrs. Pike’s Room.

This week in sports, there are no athletic events for this week . Tryouts for boys’, and girls’ basketball, wrestling ,and cheerleading will start on November 13, 4 pm - 6 pm.


The Fall Sports Athletic Banquet will be held on Thursday, November 9, at 5:30 pm in the cafeteria.  Student athletes go to Go Fan.com to get their free tickets. Monday, November 6 will be the last day to get your free ticket on Go Fan.com.  If you do not have a ticket, you will be able to attend the banquet, but you will not be able to eat.

On Friday, November 17th Carrington will host a Drive-In Movie Night at 5:30PM with entry starting at 5:00PM.  All people who wish to attend must purchase a ticket.  Entry into the event is $3.00 per person.  Tickets will be available for purchase online starting Nov. 6th through Nov. 16th using this link: https://osp.osmsinc.com/p/BG066-259.  Popcorn, Snacks, Movie Candy, Drinks and “Funnel Bakes” Funnel Cakes will be available for purchase during the event.  Space will be provided for vehicles as well as any comfortable seating you provide.  If you would like more information regarding this event, please contact Ms. Johnson at (919) 560-3916 x 16242 or rasheeda_johnson@dpsnc.net.   

Did you miss the parents' interest meeting for the CMS Global trip last week?  If you are interested in traveling to the Czech Republic, Germany, and Switzerland during Spring Break 2025, you still have time to enroll!  An art class at the remains of the Berlin Wall, bike tours, a German cooking class,  a Swiss Alps experience, an WWII Underground Prague tour, and much more is awaiting your student!
