Principal's Update for the week of 4/17/23

Good afternoon Cougar Country,

This week Carrington will administer district End of Year benchmark tests for reading, math, and Science 8.

The assessments will gauge where students are academically at this point in the school year and before the state end of grade testing.  

All of our students will take the reading benchmark grade level test on Monday, April 17th. On Tuesday, April 18th students will take the math benchmark grade level test.  On Wednesday April 19th the science benchmark test will be completed by 8th grade students only. 

Students who are absent from school on the test dates will complete the test on one of our make-up test dates on April 19-24.

Please remind your students to get lots of rest, power off their computers the night before and be sure to bring their charged laptop with a power cord  to school the day of the testing.  

This week in CMS sports, Monday, April 17, boys’ tennis will travel to Githens (Garrett Park).  The match will start at 4:15 pm. Tuesday, April 18, softball, and girls’ soccer will host Neal. All games will start at 4:45 pm.  Wednesday, April 19 Track and Field will travel to Shepard for a tri-meet. The meet will start at 4:45 pm.  Thursday, April 20, baseball, and girls’ soccer will travel to Lucas.  All games will start at 4:45 pm. Tickets must be purchased online at ticketspicket.com or on Carrington’s athletic webpage for home games. When purchasing away game tickets you must go to the opposing team's website and link to purchase tickets.   The cost for a game ticket is $5.00. Children elementary age and under are free.  Per Durham Public Schools Athletic Department, spectators are limited to one small, clear bag.  Spectators who leave an athletic contest must purchase another ticket for re-entry. All parties must be present at the gate when validating tickets.  Screenshots of game tickets are not allowed. Parents and students, middle school students must be accompanied by an adult to enter and watch athletic events.  This is part of spectator and safety guidance policies for DPS athletic events.
