Principal's Update for the week of 01/23/23
Good afternoon Cougar Country,
The 8th grade student leadership team is hosting a school-wide spirit week to kick-off the 8th graders’ last semester at Carrington. They are inviting all to dress up and celebrate with them.
Monday (1/23) - Senior Citizen’s Day
Tuesday (1/24) - Teacher Day - dress like your favorite teacher
Wednesday (1/25) - Celebrity Day
Thursday (1/26) - Throwback Thursday
Friday (1/27) - Orange v. Black day
Students who are interested in playing a spring sport (softball, baseball, girl soccer and track and field) must submit their sports physical completed by the doctor, a concussion form and consent to play form. All forms are due to Ms. Hurst in T-4 by January 31. If you tried out or played a sport to include volleyball, cheerleading, boys soccer, girls tennis, football, basketball and or wrestling a new sports physical is not required.
8th Grade Families: If you haven't done so already, please schedule a time to visit one or more of DPS high schools. Use the link in the email version of this message to access tour dates and information. Also, we are hosting magnet/CTE application support sessions Thursday, Jan 26 and Thursday, February 2 during 8th grade lunch. Parents, please be sure that students have access to your login information prior to coming to those sessions.

This week in CMS sports, Tuesday, January 24, cheerleading and the boys and girls basketball teams will host Neal. The game will start at 4:45 pm. The girls will play first followed by the boy’s game. Wednesday, January 25, the wrestling team will travel to Lucas. The match will start at 4:45 pm. Thursday, January 26, cheerleading and the boys and girls basketball teams will travel to Lucas. The game will start at 4:45 pm. The girls will play first followed by the boy’s game. Friday, January 27, team picture day for all winter sports. Tickets must be purchased online at ticketspicket.com or on Carrington’s athletic webpage for home games. When purchasing away game tickets you must go to the opposing team's link and website to purchase tickets. The cost for a game ticket is $5.00. Elementary age and under are free. Per Durham Public Schools Athletic Department, spectators are limited to one small, clear bag. Spectators who leave an athletic contest must purchase another ticket for re-entry. All parties must be present at the gate when validating your ticket(s). Screenshots and or pictures of game tickets are not allowed. Parents and students, middle school students must be accompanied by an adult to enter and watch athletic events moving forward, this includes MS and HS athletics. This is part of spectator and safety guidance for DPS athletic events.
