Principal's Update Week of 12/5/22

Good evening Cougar Country,

Parents this week students will complete the mid-year benchmark testing for the school district. The assessments will gauge where students are academically at this mid-point in the school year.  

All of our students will take the reading benchmark grade level test on Tuesday, December 6th. On Wednesday, December 7th students will take the math benchmark grade level test.  Thursday, December 8th the science benchmark test will be completed by 8th grade students only. 

Students who are absent from school on the test dates will have to complete the test on our make-up dates which are Thursday, December 8th for 6th and 7th grade students, Friday, December 9th and Monday, December 12th for all students. Please remind your student to get lots of rest the night before, power off their computer the night before and be sure to bring their charged laptop with a power cord the day of the test. 

Parents, it is with great pride and pleasure that the 6th, 7th and 8th grade Carrington Chorus invite you to attend the upcoming musical presentation entitled; “Season Of Love”, to be presented on December 15, 2022 at 6:00pm. This presentation will be held in gym 1 at Carrington Middle School. Students need to report to Gym-1 by 5:00 pm for warm-ups before the concert.

This week in CMS sports, Tuesday, December 6, boys and girls basketball and cheerleading will travel to Shepard.  The game will start at 4:45 pm.  The boys will play first followed by the girl’s game.   Wednesday, December 7, wrestling will travel to Neal for a tri-match.  The match will start at 4:45 pm.  Boys and girls basketball and cheerleading will have practice.  Thursday, December 8, boys and girls basketball and cheerleading will host Githens for the home opener.  The game will start at 4:45 pm.  The girls will play first followed by the boy’s game.

Tickets must be purchased online at or on Carrington’s athletic webpage for home games. When purchasing away game ticket, please visit the opposing team's link and website to purchase tickets.  The cost for a game ticket is $5.00.  Elementary age and under are free.  Per Durham Public Schools Athletic Department, spectators are limited to one small, clear bag.  Spectators who leave an athletic contest must purchase another ticket to re-entry. All parties must be present at the gate when validating your ticket(s).  Screenshots and or pictures of game tickets are not allowed.  All games are subject to change due to weather and or lack of referees. Parents and Students, middle school students must be accompanied by an adult to enter and watch athletic events.
