Virtual students can be admitted to the building as early as 7:15 a.m., and need to arrive at school by 7:40 a.m. on the Wednesdays they come to test. Parents may drop students off in the front of the building (carpool lane). The student must pass the Covid screening before they are dropped off - this involves a temperature check and answering the Covid screening questions. The questions can be answered before drop off by going to the DPS screener located on the Sandy Ridge webpage. If you do it on your phone, you just have to show the green check . Temperature check is still required. If you get a red “X”, then the student cannot come in the building.

For parents of virtual students - we will try to hold testing classrooms to a maximum of 15 students, but our classrooms have been determined to be able to hold up to 19 students. If your child has testing accommodations through a school program that requires a small group, those will take place.

Virtual students must come in on multiple days to test, as you can see in the testing schedule:

5th grade -  3 Wednesdays

4th grade -  2 Wednesdays

3rd grade - 2 to 3 Wednesdays (depending on the RTA Retest in ELA)

If you did not fill out the survey earlier asking for transportation from the district (bus), then you will need to bring the child to school and pick them up on the test days.

Any student arriving after 8:00 a.m. will not be admitted to school because they cannot enter a testing session once testing has begun.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided to all students. All Covid protocols will be followed - masks must be worn at all times (except when eating), handwashing, hand sanitizer, and social distancing will be enforced.

If parents of virtual students have questions, please contact your child’s virtual teacher or call 919-560-2695 or email Robert_Lavender@dpsnc.net and I will get back with you as soon as I can.
