Weekly Message for the Week of 3/23/20
Hello Parkwood Families – This is principal Anna Rusconi with your weekly message.
I hope that all of you are well and staying at home as much as it is possible for your family. With these uncertain times, it’s important to note that delivering instruction is a complex issue right now. Please know that the leadership of Durham Public Schools is working very hard to come up with possible solutions that will benefit all students. Beginning tomorrow, Monday March 23, supplemental learning activities will be available for all students digitally and in-print. These activities will not be new learning for students and are not required but will reinforce instruction received in class. In-print activities will be provided for students who cannot access materials digitally and do not have internet access. Internet access or a device is NOT required for supplemental learning.
In addition, DPS will provide a special website with parent/guardian curriculum resources and tips for staying connected to schools and providing emotional support for children. The page will be available at www.dpsnc.net beginning Sunday evening.
DPS is also providing meal service beginning tomorrow, Monday March 23. This is currently scheduled for two weeks and to be reassessed based on need and available resources. DPS yellow buses will deliver meals and snacks for children once each weekday to approximately 67 school and community sites located in areas of the greatest need in the Durham community. The buses will also provide the printed supplemental learning materials for distribution on March 23-25. Parkwood Elementary is a feeding site; we will be open from 11am-12pm Monday through Friday. All families driving can follow the normal car rider line and families who are walking can go to the bus lot area.
Please know that I value our community now more than ever. Please reach out to me at email@example.com with any needs you or your family may have so we can work out a plan of support.
As always, thank you for reading and remember, Parkwood Panthers show PRIDE!
