Hello Parkwood Families,

We have two weeks before the first day of school and I can feel the excitement in the air!  I want to thank all of the wonderful families that came out to our Meet the Admin Night, it was truly great seeing everyone and being able to talk to each of you!  Here is a list of the upcoming events and reminders to pencil in your schedule as we move towards the first day of school. 

New Information:

We are truly excited to welcome our newest Panthers to the building this year with the addition of our Pre-K class!  Our Pre-K students will come to our Open House on August 25th from 4:30 to 6:30pm, to meet their teacher and get information about what to expect at “Big School”.  Pre-K students will have a staggered entry the week of August 29^th.  We will communicate specific information about staggered entry at the beginning of next week, August 15^th, to all of our Pre-K families.

Reminders:

Kindergarten Camp:  The Kindergarten teachers and administrators will be hosting two information sessions on August 17th at Parkwood from 5pm to 6pm in the media center.  The first session will be from 5pm to 5:30pm and the second session will be from 5:30pm to 6pm.  Pre-screening will take place on August 18th and 19th and please sign-up for your child’s slot for pre-screening us this link.  You can also go to our Parkwood website and Facebook page to access the link.  Please refer to our Kindergarten Staggered Entry Letter for more information.

Open House:  Our Meet the Teacher Open House event will take place at Parkwood on Thursday August 25th from 4:30pm to 6:30pm.  This will be an opportunity for families to have a brief meet and greet conversation with your child’s teacher, get important school information (i.e. bus assignments) and join our awesome PTA.

Masks are optional but highly recommended and Open House presentations will be shared on our website for those families who are unable to attend.

Teacher Assignments:  Teacher Assignments will be available via the PowerSchool Parent Portal on Thursday August 25th; with the exception of our Kindergarten, students (please review the Kindergarten Staggered Entry Letter for more information).  If you are unable to get into your parent portal, we will have class lists available to ensure you know your child’s teacher. 

Stay Connected:  There are many ways for you to stay in the know and connected to our community.  In the next few weeks, please make sure that you:

1. Follow Parkwood Elementary on Facebook - all of my weekly updates and messages to families will be posted on the website and all special events will be posted on Facebook.
2. Visit the Parkwood Elementary PTA page and join the best PTA around!
