Weekly Message 12/18/22
Hello Parkwood Families,
This is your principal Ms. Fearrington with your weekly message. I want to thank all of our Parkwood families for coming out and supporting all of our students who participated in the Winter Concert! It was so wonderful to see all of your smiling faces and be able to talk with most of you during the concert. A HUGE shout out to Ms. Guaman, all of the Connect Team, and the 3rd, 4th and 5th grade teachers and students for putting on a wonderful show. Here are a few reminders and important information as we move into a very short week next week.
Winter Break:
Winter Break is here and I want to make sure that you have all of the proper information to prepare yourself for the short school week. On Tuesday, December 20th all DPS school will have an early release day. Students will get out of school that day at 12:15pm and all students should be picked up by 12:45pm. Wednesday, December 21st is a teacher workday, so there will be no school for students that day. Students are to return to school on Wednesday, January 4th. Please refer to the district school calendar provided and linked here for important dates.
Attendance and Tardies:
I want to remind all parents that it is very important to have students at school by 7:45am. Our bell rings at that time and if a student arrives after that time they are considered tardy. It is important that moving forward, if your student is tardy, you will need to come into the office to sign your student in at the front office. We have encountered a significant number of students that are tardy and we do have a system that helps us expedite the process. I appreciate your support moving forward with this process.
Thank you for entrusting us with your child’s education and the most important time of their lives. It has been such a pleasure to get to know each Parkwood panther and hear what makes them happy and seeing their smiling faces. As we move into winter break, I hope everyone will take the time to take care of yourself and spend quality time with your family. This year has presented challenges and so many rewards and having time to rest, relax and rejuvenate is so important! I thank you for all of your support as I navigate new waters but thank you more for supporting our teachers and staff. I wish everyone a very merry holiday and Happy New Year!
Warmly,
Kimberly Fearrington
Principal
