Windows, Mirrors, and Sliding Glass Doors at Mangum

In our Media Center, we want to make sure all students can see themselves within the pages of the books on the shelves. We adopted the framework of "Windows, Mirrors and Sliding Glass Doors".  A window is a resource that offers you a view into someone else’s experience. A sliding door allows the reader to enter the story and become a part of the world. A mirror is a story that reflects your own culture and helps you build your identity. We have collected hundreds of diverse titles on the past fours to make sure our framework works for all students. We promote diverse backgrounds, languages, abilities, and perspectives, and including stories by and about people of color. Click on the attachment or view the image below to view our list of some great books that help our students use windows, mirrors, and sliding glass doors to better see each other and understand each other. if you have any questions or what to check out any these titles, please feel free to ask. Thanks and have a great day.
