The Durham Public Schools family expresses heartfelt compassion to our neighbors in Western North Carolina after the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene. We want students and employees to know of our concerns for family members, friends, and acquaintances who have been directly and indirectly affected by the storm. We are hopeful for a fast and full recovery. We also want to express our gratitude to the compassionate students and employees who are participating in clothing and resource drives to reinforce and assist families in our sister districts. DPS is willing to share the details of any drives or events being held by our schools and staff on behalf of the affected families.
