4/26/2021 Monday Message from Dr. Hart-Olivis
Good evening Hillandale Families,
This is Principal Hart-Olivis with this week’s Monday Message.
Please save the date for an informational meeting Wednesday, May 12 especially for families of students heading to kindergarten next year as well as families of students currently attending kindergarten and first grade. We know the last year has been a tough one, especially for students in the lower grades. Presenters in our session will discuss some of what families can expect for their young learners who may have unfinished learning from this year, as well as families who may need additional enrichment or accelerated instruction for their learners. We welcome families considering Hillandale to this session, as we will also discuss some of the vision for the upcoming school year during the meeting. We will have two sessions; one mid-day and one in the evening. Please save this date and consider sharing the word about this session.
Families of fifth-grade students, keep an eye out for information from our art teacher, Ms. Senger-Knotts, and the fifth-grade teachers about a Hillandale tradition and rite of passage specifically for our students who head to middle school from Hillandale, the Hillandale Alumni Bricks. This tradition is part of every fifth-grade student’s legacy, and even some Hillandale teachers and parents have their own Alumni Brick lining the hallways as part of Hillandale history. If you haven’t heard about your child’s planning for this annual opportunity for our most-senior students to leave their mark on Hillandale Hurricanes to come, please ask them about this opportunity.
Stay up to date about what’s happening at Hillandale on our school website, hillandale.dpsnc.net and on Twitter and Instagram @HillandalePOWER.
As always, thank you for your support, your partnership, and most of all, thank you for being part of The Hillandale Family.
Have a wonderful week!
