2/22/2021 Monday Message from Dr. Hart-Olivis

Good evening Hillandale Families,

This is Principal Hart-Olivis with this week’s Monday Message.

I know one main thing on so many of our minds right now is navigating the option for in-person learning in Durham Public Schools.  As promised, a video briefing is available on our school’s website, and at this link.  There will also be an opportunity for us to meet and engage in a question and answer session about the transition to in-person learning tomorrow with Hillandale’s PTA at 6:30 pm.  During the meeting I’ll discuss our return to campus and provide families with helpful information as we consider the school district’s request for submission of learning preferences by Wednesday, February 24. The meeting will be held online and, the Zoom link is available at this link.  The link will also be available on the school website during tomorrow’s meeting.  If you have specific questions you would like me to answer during the meeting, please submit them by 3 pm tomorrow, Tuesday, February 23 to this link.  We will also answer questions as time permits through chat.

Have you heard yet?  Today we announced third-grade teacher, Victoria Newnam as our Beginning Teacher of the Year!  Ms. Newnam is definitely wise beyond her years, and seeks leadership opportunities within the building along with ways to challenge each of her students in individual ways.  I’m so thankful to call Ms. Newnam my colleague and look forward to seeing the great work this promising young professional will continue to do throughout her career.  Please join me in congratulating Ms. Tori Newnam for being selected as our new Beginning Teacher of the Year.

Stay up to date about what’s happening at Hillandale on our school website, and on Twitter and Instagram @HillandalePOWER.

As always, thank you for your support, your partnership, and most of all for being part of The Hillandale Family.

Have a magnificent week!
