Dear Hillandale Family,

I am writing to share with you that I have been approved by the Chatham County Board of Education to become the next principal at Chatham Grove Elementary School in Pittsboro. It was my hope for this information to come to you differently than it did to some of you. Everything wasn’t ready for an official announcement, and there are protocols that must be followed.

My time working at Hillandale has been fulfilling and unforgettable. I’m proud that during my seven years of service to The Hillandale Family as assistant principal and principal we have seen the team through growth in achievement data, equitable practices, and unity within the community. After moving the needle upward for the first time in several years, all of those strengths were put to the test as I led The Hillandale Family through the COVID-19 pandemic. It hit us hard, but with unity as our superpower, we are well on our way to making more growth than ever and finishing strong.

Having the opportunity to be led and supported by our district leaders has been an inspiration, an an irreplaceable jewel for me to take with me throughout my leadership journey. As I continue in my next role as the lead learner in a new community, I am certain I will draw from what I have learned from each member of our community and its leaders often.

Unity is our superpower at Hillandale, and it will continue to be for many years to come. I am confident that the leadership in our building, ranging from the staff to our parents, and even our students will be able to play important roles and share their valuable insights as the community plans for our transition.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve The Hillandale Family each day, and for partnering with us as we transition. I remain committed to The Hillandale Family, and look forward to continuing to ensure this will be the best year ever at our school. I am thankful that my own children were raised within these walls. While I will step out of my role as Hillandale’s principal effective June 30, 2023, I will remain a Durham Public Schools parent, and I will continue to advocate for the learners in Durham Public Schools.

Les escribo para compartir con ustedes que he sido aprobada por la Junta de Educación del Condado de Chatham para convertirme en la próxima directora de la Escuela Primaria Chatham Grove en Pittsboro. Esperaba que esta información llegara a ustedes de manera diferente a como sucedió. No todo estaba listo para un anuncio oficial, y hay protocolos que debemos seguir.

 Mi tiempo trabajando en Hillandale ha sido satisfactorio e inolvidable. Estoy orgullosa de que durante mis siete años de servicio a la familia Hillandale como subdirectora y directora hemos visto crecer al equipo, acumulando logros, prácticas equitativas y unidad dentro de la comunidad. Después de alzar las expectativas por primera vez en varios años, todo esto fue puesto a prueba cuando tuve que liderar a la familia Hillandale a través de la pandemia de COVID-19. Nos golpeó duro, pero con la unidad como nuestro superpoder, estamos en camino a crecer más que nunca y terminar de manera sólida.

Tener la oportunidad de haber sido guiada y apoyada por nuestros líderes de distrito ha sido una inspiración, una joya irremplazable para mí que llevaré a lo largo de mi trayectoria como líder. A medida que continúo en mi próximo papel como aprendiz principal en una nueva comunidad, estoy segura de que a menudo me basaré en lo que he aprendido de cada miembro de nuestra comunidad y sus líderes.

 La unidad es nuestro superpoder en Hillandale, y seguirá siéndolo durante muchos años. Estoy segura de que el liderazgo en nuestro edificio, desde el personal hasta nuestros padres, e incluso nuestros estudiantes, podrán desempeñar papeles importantes y compartir sus valiosos conocimientos a medida que la comunidad planifica nuestra transición.

Sigo comprometida con la familia Hillandale, y espero continuar asegurándome de que este sea el mejor año en nuestra escuela.
