Your Back-to-School Checklist for a Great Start to the School Year!
School lunch prices are changing. Sign up now for free or reduced-price lunch!
Because federal COVID-19 relief funding for free lunches has expired, DPS has to go back to our school lunch pricing structure from before the pandemic. We still offer Universal Free Breakfast to all DPS students but only 19 schools qualify to offer free lunch to all students: Bethesda, Brogden, Burton, Eastway, Eno Valley, Glenn, Performance Learning Center, Hillside, Lakewood Elementary, Lakeview Secondary, Fayetteville Street, Merrick-Moore, Neal, R.N. Harris, Southern, C.C. Spaulding, W.G. Pearson, Y.E. Smith and Durham School of Technology (formerly New Tech High School).
At other schools, full-price lunches for students are $3.75 and reduced-price lunches are $0.40. You can apply for free or reduced-price lunches at https://www.lunchapplication.com/. Your application must be accepted before receiving free or reduced-price lunch.

Reserve your child’s seat on the bus!
If you want your child to ride the bus, sign up by AUGUST 8!
If you didn’t sign up for bus service this spring, you can register for transportation on the DPS website through the PowerSchool Parent Portal, or you can call your school for assistance. Do it by August 8, 2022, to be guaranteed bus service on the first day of traditional school!
Bookmark your school’s website for supply lists and open house dates!
Schools are in the process of posting their open house schedules and school supply lists to their websites. Follow them on social media for important updates as well!
Masks are STRONGLY RECOMMENDED!
The Durham Public Schools Board of Education and administration strongly recommend the continued use of face coverings to protect against COVID-19.
Need to resolve a concern at your school?
The best way to address a concern is directly with your child’s teacher or principal. If you need further assistance, the Office of the Chief of Schools is here to help you. Find more information about how the Office of the Chief of Schools can help with school concerns here!
