DPS Arts Education to host Virtual District Arts Exhibit in Downtown Durham
Durham Public Schools Arts Education kicks off it’s very first Virtual District Arts Exhibit on December 17 with a virtual reception and museum.
The reception will honor student artists and teachers who contributed to the virtual museum. There will be two receptions on Thursday, December 17, elementary students will have a virtual reception from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and secondary students will have a virtual reception from 7-8 p.m. The public is invited to attend these receptions as they will be streamed on the DPS YouTube channel. Following the receptions, the DPS Virtual Art Museum will be launched online and can be accessed through dpsnc.net.
Friday December 18-19, student artwork will be projected in The Oak House storefront windows in Downtown Durham from 5-9 p.m.
"Now more than ever the Arts empower all students across DPS to respond both socially and emotionally,” said Jeremy Tucker, the Director of Arts Education for DPS. “DPS teachers, staff, and the community realize that through a whole-child approach to education including the Arts our students continue to be the best they can be-making DPS the best place to learn! This virtual gallery launch will be a living and breathing example of our Arts educators and leader’s commitment to our students. We look forward to celebrating the successes of our DPS schools and community."
