3060 - COPYRIGHT

The illegal duplication, performance or other use of copyrighted materials in any form within Durham Public Schools is prohibited.  Any employee or student who willfully disregards the law or this policy assumes all liability and responsibility for such action.

 

Copyrighted materials, whether print or non-print, may be duplicated or used only when such reproduction or use meets “fair use” standards, through a license or contractual agreement, or when written permission for the duplication or use has been obtained from the copyright holder.

 

Each school shall establish practices in accordance with prevailing copyright law and board policy.  Under no circumstances shall it be necessary for Durham Public Schools staff to violate copyright requirements in order to fulfill their duties.
