If the Durham community is able to contain community spread of COVID-19 to below 4 percent for two weeks, DPS will be able to offer a return to the classroom for pre-K and elementary students beginning no earlier than January 21, 2020. Students will come to school in two groups two days a week, participating in Wellness Wednesdays and remote instruction the other three days.
We will continue to improve and strengthen online learning for families who would prefer to remain off-campus. However, if you would like to bring your student back to school, we have a plan to protect our students and staff with mandatory face coverings, social distance, regular disinfecting, helpful signage, and other health and safety procedures.
Our highest commitment is to educate and empower our students while keeping our families and staff safe.
