Advisory

  • Purpose of the DPLC Advisory Program

The DPCL Advisory Program exists because all students benefit from a significant relationship with an adult.  Every student is assigned to an Advisory Team with an Advisor that will remain with them throughout their time at DPLC.  Each advisor meets with his or her students individually and in small groups once a week. Such a relationship fosters increased success and supports student needs throughout high school.  Active participation in the advisory program promotes a sense of belonging to the wider school community.

During Advisory, teachers work with students on Advisory lessons designed by the DPLC Teacher Leadership Team.  Advisors work with students during the lessons on topics that encourage collaboration and communication such as:  Managing Your Digital Footprint, Making Social Media Work for You, and Workplace Professional Skills.  Advsiory also works in conjuction with DPLC's PBIS program, encouraging healthy competition between DPLC Advisory Teams.

Advisory Teams meet every Wednesday from 12:30 until 1:05.
