Good evening Lyons Farm Families, Today is Sunday, September 11. Please Join me in a very brief moment of silence in remembrance of the millions of lives that were impacted on this day back in 2001. (Silence) This is Mr. Hopkins calling with your weekly evening update.

Logistically speaking, week 2 was better than week 1! And we are on pace to ensure that this week is better than last week! Thank you for your continued patience while we work to make sure that our school operations are getting better from one day to the next.

Meet the Teacher Night is this Thursday, September 15th from 6-7PM. More information can be found is my Lyons Farm Family Update #24 send this afternoon.

Instruction begins at 7:45. Students have 15 solid minutes of classroom connection with their teacher and classmates. Please make sure to have your child at school by 7:45 so that they are not missing out on this very important time for them to participate and connect.

I strongly discourage walking to school as safety measures are not yet in place.

Lastly, Please make every effort to read to or with your children at least 4 times a week for 15 minutes. I also ask that families and caregivers acknowledge our school’s 5 school cultural values outside of school if possible: Exploration, Joy, Rigor Justice, and Growth. My goal is for every student to participate in making sure these values are represented in our school.

    --Enjoy your evening.

Good evening Lyons Farm Families. Today is Sunday, September 4. Tomorrow, Monday, September 5 is Labor Day. In observance of this holiday, there will be NO school.  This is Mr. Hopkins calling with your weekly evening update.

We made it through our first week. Yes, there were challenges, and protocols we are still working to sharpen. Our carpool is still a work in progress. This past Friday was the first time all students, Pre-K, Kindergarten through 5th grade were in our building. There will be delays, but I am confident that we will get to a place where “smooth” is the norm–again I ask for patience and understanding as we continue to work through these areas.

Remember that masking is optional, every student has the choice whether to wear one or not. We will also continue to follow DPS protocols for COVID cases and close contacts throughout the year.

BIG thank you to our PTA for breakfast, encouraging messages in our parking lot, and for all of the positive vibes they have thrown at us this week–Love and Respect!

Good evening Lyons Farm Families, Today is Sunday, August 28th–and tomorrow is the very first time students will enter our school for instruction. This is Mr. Hopkins calling with your very first weekly evening update.

Buckle up! We are all in for a ride of new beginnings, challenges, and opportunities to grow as a school and community.

Tomorrow morning I ask for both patience and positivity. After prioritizing safety, I charged my staff with enjoying the moment. We are ALL a part of this history. Let’s all try to enjoy these first year experiences together.

I’ve posted my Lyons Farm Family Update #22 to our website under the Parents tab for families to review important information

Remember that masking is optional, every student has the choice whether to wear one or not.

Please make sure that your children get a proper night's rest this evening–and every school night for that matter, so that they are rested and ready to participate in class the next morning.

Lastly,  please make every effort to read to or with your children at least 4 times a week for 15 minutes.
