    Lakewood Montessori Middle School is a public magnet school within Durham Public Schools in Durham, NC. Lakewood has 300 students, 12 core community teachers, seven elective teachers, and serves 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. At Lakewood, we use our Montessori model combined with the NC Standard Course of Study to engage students and build independent life-long learners. 

    We are a Magnet Schools of America (MSA) School of Excellence and a North Carolina Middle School to Watch. Our teachers receive free training for their Montessori credential through CMStep (Cincinnati Montessori Secondary Teacher Education Program).

    6th Grade Humanities Teacher

    Lakewood Montessori Middle School, a public magnet school in Durham, NC, is seeking a 6th grade humanities teacher. Humanities teachers work in a two-teacher partnership with a math and science teacher, and teach a cohort of approximately 50 students. Lakewood Montessori Middle has 300 students, 12 core community teachers, seven elective teachers, and serves 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Desirable candidates are capable of differentiating for a wide range of academic abilities, and are eager to participate in all aspects of our Montessori program.
