Lakewood Montessori Families,
The district sets the minimum requirements for eligibility. Students become ineligible if they fail more than one core class and one elective class. After speaking with administration, we have decide to raise our expectations at Lakewood. Starting with semester ONE grades, any student who receives an F for a semester grade in any class will not be eligible to play sports. Semester ONE grades will come out around 5 weeks after the start of winter sports. If a student receives an F in a class, they will be removed from the team. This also means that any student who fails a class semester ONE will not be eligible for spring sports.
I will hold only one Ticket to Play for Winter Sports. It will be on 11/5 from 2:30-3:30. I will have a sign up sheet for winter sports outside the gym from 10/29-10/31. Students that played a fall sport or came to a ticket play during the summer need to sign up. I will check over the list on 11/1 and reach out to the students who are missing paperwork.
The last day to turn in paperwork for winter sports is 11/5.
Basketball tryouts will take place on 11/13-11/15. We will have a cut on 11/14 and make the final cut on 11/15.
We will hold optional workouts on 11/6 and 11/7. These are not mandatory, but I would highly recommend coming.
Boys basketball will take place from 2:30-4:15 (Workouts, Tryouts, and Practice)
Girls basketball will take place from 4:15-6:00 (Workouts, Tryouts, and Practice)
Ms. Tapp will host a girls study hall from 2:20-4:00 everyday we have winter sports.
Boys will need to be picked up at 4:15.
If you have any questions about Basketball or Study Hall, please reach out to the coaches.
