The Durham Public Schools Board of Education has officially launched the process for selecting the next superintendent for Durham Public Schools. The Board, with assistance from Alma Advisory Group, will lead a national search to identify the district’s next leader.

This is an important undertaking. Because community input is critical to a successful process, the Board invites stakeholders to engage in selecting our district’s superintendent. Several engagement opportunities will be provided over the next few weeks to gather feedback from families, students, DPS employees, community partners, Durham residents, and other community members.

Please refer to this webpage for the latest information and updates related to the superintendent search.

    Leadership Profile

The Board of Education has crafted a comprehensive leadership profile indicating the preferred skills, qualifications, and character traits sought for the next superintendent. This leadership profile will serve as a guiding document for prospective candidates, aiding them in discerning their alignment with the vision, mission, and core beliefs of Durham Public Schools prior to engaging in the application and interview phases.
