    Middle College

    Middle College High School at DTCC (SCHOOL OPERATES ON A MODIFIED CALENDAR)   

    Middle College is a Cooperative Innovative High School located on the campus of Durham Technical Community College. In this academically rigorous program, students take both honors level high school courses and college courses. Students can earn a year or more of university credit and have the potential to graduate with both a high school diploma and an associates degree with all course and material expenses covered. Middle College is best suited for students who can demonstrate a high degree of responsibility, independence, and intrinsic motivation. Middle College is also open to students that reside in Orange County. 

    Current Lottery Policies:

    Minimum application requirements (more information here

    • Junior or senior status with credits earned in World History, English I & II, Math I and Math II (Algebra I and Geometry), Health and PE, and one of the following courses: Economics & Personal Finance, US History, or Civic Literacy. 

    • GPA of 2.5 (unweighted) 

    Entry Grade: rising juniors and seniors can apply

    Attendance zone: NONE

    Lottery Priorities: NONE

    Transportation: Transportation is provided to the campus of Durham Technical Community College from base high schools. Students are responsible for transportation to the base school.

    Competitive Athletics: School does not have its own sports teams. Students can participate with base school, however transportation between schools is not provided.

    Early College

    Josephine Dobbs Clement Early College High School (SCHOOL OPERATES ON A MODIFIED CALENDAR)   

    JDC Early College is a Cooperative Innovative High School located on the campus of North Carolina Central University. In this academically rigorous program, students take both honors/AP level high school courses and college courses. Students can earn up to two years of university credit with all course and material expenses covered. Middle College is best suited for students who can demonstrate a high degree of responsibility, independence, and intrinsic motivation. 

    Current Lottery Policies:

    Minimum application requirements: JDC ECHS is a competitive program and transcripts and application essays are reviewed by an admissions committee. 

    Applicant Considerations: Priority is given to applicants who fit any of the following categories:

    • first generation college completer

    • English language learner

    • economically disadvantaged

    Entry Grade: 9th 

    Attendance zone: NONE

    Lottery Priorities: NONE.

    Transportation: District-wide.
