Ms. Henderson received a Bachelor of Arts-English from her alma mater Howard University, Secondary Education Certification from UNC Wilmington, and Master of Education-Curriculum & Instruction from NC State University. Her passionate advocacy for children and education can trace back to her time as a daycare lead teacher and AmeriCorps Project Change tutor/teacher. Affiliated with several civic/social/personal/professional organizations and a recipient of numerous awards and accomplishments, Ms. Henderson humbly roots herself in George Washington Carver’s quote “How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving, and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because someday in your life you will have been all of these.”
She finds joy in knowing that her firm yet caring spirit with a witty sense of humor causes her students to put forth the extra effort because they have a teacher who is invested in who they are and strive to be. Her pastimes include reading/writing, spending time with family, serving as president of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® - Psi Gamma Omega Chapter, website designing, desktop publishing, and event planning.
