Mrs. Jones - Occupational Therapist

My name is Mrs. Jones. I go by "Ms. Teresa" at W.G. Pearson since there are at least 3 "Ms. Jones" in the building! I am originally from the tiny state of Rhode Island, located east of Connecticut and south of Massachusetts. I went to Brown University and after I graduated in 2000, I moved to NC to teach 7th grade science through Teach For America, but I found my career in occupational therapy. So, I got my master's degree at UNC-CH and have continued to work in schools! I have worked for Durham Public Schools since 2010 and at W.G. Pearson for over 8 of those years. I have a passion for education and empowering students! I LOVE my job because I get to provide students with the tools they need and help them develop the skills they need to become whoever they choose to be. Every single person/student/child is able to learn, even if it might be different than how others learn. Occupational therapists find ways to facilitate student participation in any school activity!

Mrs. Tucker-Young

Greetings,  I am Angela Tucker-Young the AIG teacher at WG Pearson Elementary. This is my 22nd year teaching (10 of those in

AIG),   Previously, I worked at another district in New York PCSD school for 12 years!  My family is my life. I am married with 3 daughters, 1

son and a granddaughter who I truly adore. I have a genuine  love for kids and their success in life! I attended Suny New Paltz College and

Mercy college for my Masters in education. I also attended North Carolina Central University where I received my (AIG) gifted education

certification.  My love and passion to create is one of the reasons that spiked my interest to work with students who have that creative mind

that some may not understand. I love to plan events, solve logic problems and travel.  I also love math that involve real life lessons. If I had

not become a teacher, I would have pursued a degree in fashion design. I secretly love singing and have always wanted to be a performing

artist. I love to cook, especially brunch, Caribbean, seafood and soul food.
