Tickets for Graduations at Duke

Schools are provided with an average of 10 tickets per graduate. This guarantees that we will have space for every graduate in Durham to invite up to 10 guests.  Please note that we will have fewer seats than the published building capacity to accommodate the graduation stage.

Schools create their own procedures to handle distribution of tickets.

Tickets are for general admission.  Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis in Sections 5-16.  There is no graduation seating in Sections 1-4.  Please note that tickets are NOT assigned to specific sections, rows, or seats.

As sections fill, ushers will communicate to guests in the concourse that the section is full.

Schools may create a waitlist for students requesting more than 10 tickets.  Waitlist ticket requests are not guaranteed and may be filled according to procedures designed by the school.

Contact your school to find out specific information regarding how they handle requests for additional tickets.

Children age two and under who will remain seated on the lap of an adult for the duration of the graduation ceremony will not require a ticket. Children over age two, and those under age two who will require their own seat, need to have their own ticket.

Persons with disabilities that have requested accessible seating from their school will be issued a General Admission ticket prior to graduation. These guests are allowed to have one ticketed escort sit with them.  Upon arrival at graduation, these guests and their escorts will enter the venue together via the lower-level ADA accessible entrance, provide their names, and exchange their General Admission tickets for ADA tickets.

DPS employees who are attending the graduation as a guest or family member must have a ticket.

As a courtesy to our families, the Duke Ticket Office window will be open on the day of graduation for guests wishing to leave tickets for a family member to pick up. In order to leave tickets for another family member to pick up, guests must go to the Ticket Office window on the north side of the Scott Family Athletic Performance Center, across Tribull Plaza from Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Guests leaving tickets must provide their name, a phone number where they can be reached if there are any issues, and the name of the person who will be picking up the tickets.

All guests picking up tickets at will call location must present valid identification.
