I am so very excited to be back for my 9th year teaching at Mangum. The strong sense of community and the warmth of all those that work here make Mangum a wonderful place to be. I taught kindergarten in Wake Forest for five years, and then I transitioned to Glenn Elementary in Durham where I was a reading specialist for four years. I also have a master's degree in literacy from UNC Chapel Hill. I live in Bahama with my husband, Jeremy, and our two children. I love having my children here at school with me. Ava will be in 4th grade this year and Levi in 1st grade.
I was born and raised right here in Durham and when I joined Mangum in 2019, I was amazed at all the connections I had to the wonderful staff here. It immediately felt like family! I’m so happy to be back in First Grade with this amazing team.
I received my bachelor’s degree from East Carolina University in Communications/Special Ed. and Elementary Education from Appalachian State. My husband and I lived in Ashe County, NC for 10 years before returning HOME. We have two precious children that both attend Mangum. Our house is also home to sweet, somewhat rambunctious dogs and cats.
Hi! I love being part of the very special Mangum community. I am a Durham native, graduated from DPS, and earned my Child Development and Early Education degree from UNC Greensboro. This will be my fifth year teaching here; I have taught either second or first grade 20 full years total with some time off to raise my 3 children. My oldest son Cade is 23, graduated from UNC Charlotte and now works uptown where he loves the city life. My middle child Kyle is a sophomore at UNC Wilmington majoring in Business, and my daughter Kate is a rising sophomore at Northern High School. In my spare time I love to watch Kate cheer varsity for the Knights, play with my cocker spaniel Koda, and visit the beach or lake when I can with my husband Todd and my family.
