National Elementary Honor Society

  • Chapter Adviser: Mrs. Desiree Anderson

The National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS) was established in 2008 by the National Association of Secondary Schools Principals (NASSP) in partnership with the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP).  NEHS recognizes students in elementary schools for their outstanding academic achievement and demonstrated personal responsibility. Through NEHS, students provide meaningful service to the school and community and develop essential leadership skills. NEHS supports these purposes by strengthening the lives of our nation's elementary students and the schools in which they are enrolled.

Burton Magnet Elementary was awarded a charter from the National Elementary Honor Society on March 10, 2017. Through regular meetings and quarterly projects, members learn citizenship, caring, and integrity while maintaining a focus on academics. Students who are invited to become a member have met the 3.5 G.P.A. requirements, are leaders among their peers, and shown a dedication to school attendance. These students are outstanding representatives of Burton Magnet Elementary. Membership opportunities are open to 4th through 5th graders, with new member invitations sent out in the winter.

Please check this site regularly for updates and information about current activities.
