Welcome to the Merrick-Moore Elementary web site!  We hope you find it to be a useful resource to help you learn about our school and keep up to date with our latest news.

At Merrick-Moore Elementary School, we are committed to recruiting, supporting, and retaining exceptional educators for the very best students in Durham. We strive to treat each child as our own. We are relentless in our pursuit of excellence as we develop strong and skilled readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, and thinkers. We believe our students have the capacity and ability to inspire positive change in our school, our community, our country, and our world.  Merrick-Moore's students and staff are dedicated to promoting kindness, respecting ourselves and others, demonstrating personal integrity, showing determination, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. We value and celebrate our diverse student body representing more than 20 countries. We foster and support strong partnerships with our families. We are devoted to restorative practices, the preservation of the natural environment, and social justice.  Merrick-Moore Tigers roar with PRIDE. With an unwavering commitment to maintaining high academic expectations and a safe, caring, and orderly learning environment, Merrick-Moore is positioned to become the pride of Durham.

With the establishment of many new community partnerships and a 5-year School Improvement Grant, Merrick-Moore is building on its rich history.  Recent community partnerships include Communities in Schools, Duke University, NCCU, Howard Lee Institute, Book Harvest, local churches and businesses.  Three major grants have directly impacted our students by providing additional teachers, instructional coaches, technological resources, outdoor classrooms and spaces, field trips, summer programming, and curriculum.  We’re proud of our students, families, and teachers, as Merrick-Moore has enjoyed recent success.  In 2017, Merrick-Moore Exceeded Expected Academic Growth, increased proficiency rates by 5%, and achieved teacher satisfaction rates well above state and district averages.  Our Tigers are Roaring with Pride.

We hope to see you soon for a visit.
