DPS congratulates Jason Jowers, the 2011 Teacher of the Year! Mr. Jowers is a high school History teacher at the Southern School of Engineering, where he has taught for four years. Jowers was chosen from among 54 Teachers of the Year from across our district. He now will compete for the Central Region Teacher of the Year.

"I wanted to make learning for kids easy, but more importantly I wanted to be in a position where I could possibly intercede in a kids life when they were on the verge of giving up. I wanted to encourage young people to make that right decisions instead of falling prey to those they would regret later on in life. . . My greatest accomplishment is not helping students pass a test, it has been my ability to help them realize that success can be an option."
