Wednesday, January 26 was a historic evening for Durham
Public Schools. Superintendent Dr. Eric J. Becoats introduced
our new Strategic Plan to a packed house at the North
Carolina Biotechnology Center as well as countless others
watching at launch parties and online.
The new plan is entitled, “One Durham – One Vision.” It
will serve as the roadmap guiding us to our next
destination – excellence. The Strategic Plan contains six
areas of focus: Academic Acceleration, Communications and
Partnerships, Equitable Standards, Effective Operations,
Talent Development, and Wellness and Safety. These six
components are accompanied by 24 goals and 120 specific and
measurable strategies.

the launch, it is not just the school district’s plan –
