Durham Public Schools benefits from a partnership with the North Carolina
Model Teacher Education Consortium (NCMTEC). The NCMTEC is a state-supported
organization that works with various school districts in North Carolina with the
goal of increasing the number of highly qualified educators in the state. The
Consortium provides multiple benefits to classified employees pursuing teacher
licensure, lateral entry teachers who must complete a program of study to gain
an initial license and licensed teachers looking to add an area of licensure or
pursue an advanced degree in education.
