2016 College Fair
Description
More than 100 colleges and universities from across the nation will converge on Northgate Mall to meet Durham students at Durham's annual College Fair from 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 2.
Parents and students will be able to meet with representatives from schools as far away as Alabama, Virginia and Massachusetts. Durham Public Schools middle and high school counselors will help students navigate through and learn about the colleges and universities.
“We had hundreds of families here last year,” said Elizabeth Shearer, DPS’s executive director for student support services. “Our students are excited to find out about their opportunities after graduation, and they are eagerly planning their next steps.”
The event is sponsored by CACRAO (Carolinas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers) and hosted by Durham Public Schools and North Carolina Central University. It will give families a chance to learn about their options among two- and four-year college programs, large and small schools, urban and rural schools, majors, extracurricular activities, student life and financial assistance.
The event is free and open to the public (not just for students in Durham schools). Find it from entrances No. 2 and No. 8 at Northgate Mall, 1058 West Club Blvd., Durham.
